Hi guys,

When designing for post-installed rebar following the rebar design method, concrete cone failure must be prevented, otherwise, the design should be done as an anchor model following SA TS 101 / AS 5216 (see link for information on SA TS 101/AS 5216). Examples of when the concrete cone failure is prevented for the rebar to be designed as per Eurocode 2 or AS3600 are covered in EOTA TR023. These include splicing or lapping, strut and tie action where the concrete around the bar is in compression, pure compression and when the bar is extended to reach the compression zone.
