HVU2 through waterproofing

If HVU2 capsules are installed through a waterproof membrane (concrete base material) will they maintain waterprrofing after chemical is set?

Answer Accepted

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your question.

HVU2 is watertight to some extent but shouldn't be treated as a substitute for the waterproofing seal around the penetration. Water tightness is related to vulnerability of anchor against the water penetration in concrete base material through the interfaces of chemical around the rod. It doesn't necessarily address the leakage from microcracks around the hole because existing waterproofing membrane and HVU2 may not have good seal and water may seep through if it is not properly sealed. In this regard, the anchor should be treated as other usual penetration in waterproofing membranes and approved sealant shall be used around it.
