Difference between RE 500-V3 and HY200-R

Hi all,

What is the main difference between RE 500-V3 and HY200-R when you do the design? They seem to have very similiar bond strength, is there a preference in selection?

Answer Accepted

To my understanding:

RE500 V3

  • Slow curing epoxy (7hrs cure)
  • Can be used in submerged holes (non-cracked concrete only)
  • Can be used in diamond cored holes (with roughening tool)
  • Pink in colour
  • Hole has to be cleaned with compressed air and brushes

HY200-R

  • Fast curing hybrid-mortar (1hr cure)
  • Can't be used in submerged holes
  • Can only be used in diamond cored holes with HIT-Z rods (no hole cleaning required either)
  • Grey in colour
  • Hole can be cleaned with manual pump and brushes

There may be more but these are the main categories I consider when deciding between the two chemicals

Can HY200-R be used with HIT-V-F & HIT-C-F? Do the holes have to be diamond cored & roughened to achieve stated loads?

Hi Emilio,

That is an excellent question.

Yes, HY 200-R can be used with HIT-V-F and HIT-C-F threaded rods. It is a hybrid mortar based chemical anchor and with these threaded rods it is only suitable and approved for hammer drilled holes.

For diamond cored holes, we have either:
1. HY 200-R with HIT-Z(-F) rods, the HIT-Z-F (muti-layer coated / galvanised steel) are only available in M16 and M20. Please see attached ETA approval document for details. Or;
2. RE 500 V3, please see the link below for a previous discussion on using this chemical anchor in diamond cored holes:

I hope this answers your question. Please let us know if you would like to discuss this further.

RE 500 V3,HY 200-R,Diamond Cored,HIT-Z

Hi community members,

Please note that we now have an ETA for the HY200-R for use in diamond cored holes.

The difference in the two products are that RE 500 V3 can be used in diamond cored holes without the roughening tool but result in reduced bond resistance where with the roughening tool, it will be similar as a hammer drilled hole. With the HY200-R, the ETA only permits use in a diamond cored hole if the roughening tool is used and again the bond resistance will be similar to that of a hammer drilled hole.

If the HY200-R needs to be used in a diamond cored hole without the roughening tool, please take a look at the special HIT-Z rod.

Please also feel free to check the article on this topic/comparison:
